She was born February 23, 1952 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Bennie and Frances Dowdell.
Mrs. Branscomb attended Spencer High School and graduated from Wayne School, Chicago, IL in 1969. Mrs. Branscomb realized early her passion for helping people and determined in her heart to become a nurse. She obtained her Nursing degree from Columbus Technical Institute in 1988.
She spent over 30 years in the Nursing Profession with 13 years at Columbus Regional Healthcare Center. During her tenure at Columbus Regional Healthcare Center, she received the Make a award several times, along with many other accolades. In 2001, she became a founding member of Shekinah Glory Worship Center and continued to faithfully serve there until her death. She loved to sing and give Glory to God which she expressed on the Praise and Worship Team. In 2004, she was called into the Ministry and enjoyed spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Branscomb is survived by her husband of 35 years, Miles M. Branscomb, Jr. her 4 children, Tracy Allen (deceased). She was 93. family said she died in her sleep Sunday. Among her many accom- plishments during 50 years of work, activism led directly to the U.S.
Sen- agreement to pay repa- rations and apologize to Jap- anese-Americans and others who were interred during the World War II. Kochiyama was living in New York when she forged an unlikely bond with Malcolm and she witnessed his 1965 as- sassination in New York. Kochiyama was born in San Pedro, California, to a middle-class family. She and her family were interred for two years in Arkansas dur- ing World War II. After the war, she moved to New York and married her husband, Bill, who died in 1993.
