She was a Preachers wife who spent many an hour telling and teaching others about Gods love. She was an amazing cook and baker who passed that skill on to loved ones. She along with her husband spent 10 years as house parents at the Louisiana Baptist Home, and spent the rest of her life traveling and spoiling her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and loved ones. She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, R.G Spangler; sisters Elouise Spangler and Dollie Sue Spangler Worsham; and her Beloved Husband Arley Raymond Powers.

James enjoyed his family, working on his property, using the tractor and feeding the in the lake. His wisdom and love will continue to generations to come and his fond memories will always be cherished in our hearts. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Ralph James and two sisters Polly Pitts and Rena James. A native of Opelika, and the son of the late Cleveland, and Ruthie Lee Wilson Gentry, Mr. Gentry was a 1970 graduate of Sandford High School.
He had been employed as a Transportation Specialist for the Columbus Headstart Program and retired as a Delivery Tech for Legacy Dealership. A devout member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, he was a member of the Deacons Ministry and the Male Chorus. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Derek Holt and two siblings, John H. Gentry and Mary L. Scott.

Harrell passed away on January 25th in Monroe, NJ, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law. She was a long-time resident of Columbus, GA, and moved to Monroe one and half years ago. She was born December 5, 1931 in Rome, GA, daughter of May and Carl Espy Sr. Mrs. Harrell graduated from Jordan High School (1950).
She was elected Studious in her graduation class and her pursuit of education remained throughout her entire life. She graduated from Columbus College (Columbus State University) and was a career employee in the Civilian Personnel Division at Fort Benning. GA until her retirement in 1992. She was active in the Edgewood Methodist Church, now Living Grace United Methodist. Mrs.
Harrell found joy in attending plays at the Springer Opera House, gardening, interior design, and volunteering at her church and other organizations. She was predeceased by her husband, Peyton E. Harrell, and her brother Paul Espy. She is survived by her son; Brett Harrell, daughter-in-law Syndie, grandson Shayne Harrell of U.S. Military Academy, West Point, brother Carl Espy Jr.

In addition to the in- creased efficiency, the consolidation would allow Early College students to participate in athletics, fine and performing arts and extracurricular activ- ities not offered at Early College, while still being able to take dual-enroll- ment courses at Columbus State University or Columbus Technical College. Early College students would have three options if their school closes: AAutomatic admission to Jordan. AEnrollment at the school assigned to their attendance zone. The original Jan. 18 application deadline would be extend- ed for them, Lewis said. MCSD has received assurance from the Georgia High School Association that Early College students who choose one of the first two options would receive a transfer waiver and be immediately eligible to compete in interscholastic athletics, Lewis said, in- stead of sitting out the normally required one year. Lewis also promised that no Early College staff members (24 listed on the website) would lose their job because of the merger. They would be able to apply for jobs at Jordan or any other MCSD site for which they are certified, he said.
